Joe Lewis Haynie

HAYNIE, JOE LEWIS, age 88 of Trussville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 7, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sarah Haynie. Joe served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict with 4 years of active duty and 2 more in reserve. He then attended Auburn University on the G.I. Bill and graduated in 1959 with the last class known as Alabama Polytechnic Institute. He married Sarah in 1967 and their wedding was the first wedding in the new McElwain Baptist Church where they remain members. Joe always loved to listen to Sarah play the piano. They owned and operated the Seafood Warf in Irondale for many years and then started California Closet Company which they owned for 36 years. Joe was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, The Club, Closet Engineers of the United States, The Monday Morning Quarterback Club and the Jewish Community Center. Friends are invited to celebrate his life with visitation on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 1-2 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 2:00. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale.
