Terry graduated from Phillips High School and then attended Howard College. He went on to get his AART Certification from Baptist Hospital. He was a dedicated teacher of thousands of Radiology students over three decades at Jefferson State Community College. An award is given in his honor each year called the John Terry Leesburg Radiology Award.
He was a member of The Gideons International, Community Grief Support, and The Alabama State Association of Parliamentarians. He served on the Center Point City Council from 2004 to 2020.
Although Terry was a man of few words, he was blessed with thousands of friends from all walks of life. People were important to Terry.
He loved the Lord and was a dedicated Sunday School teacher as well. He was a loving father and is now reunited with his wife, Reba.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reba Walker Leesburg; a sister, Mary Ruth Leesburg; and son-in-law, Tim Carter.
He is survived by his daughters, Angie Carter and Margaret Armstrong (Steve); grandchildren, Madison West (Tucker), Audrey Frazier (Mike), Marlee Kennedy (Evan), Kaci Carter (Raymond Bagley), Gavin Armstrong and Gabriel Armstrong; great-grandchild Maren West; brother, Charles Leesburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Friday, February 4, 2022 with a 3:00 PM Graveside Service to be held at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale, AL.
