John G. Mooney, age 59 of Vestavia Hills passed away on Thursday, May 17 2012 after a three year battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father, Olvier John Mooney and brother, Connie Douglas Mooney. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Linda D. Mooney; sons, Justin K. Mooney and his fiancé Sylvia McLain, step-son Brad Perkins; step-daughter, Carrie Taylor (Dylan); mother, Jessie Mooney Griffin; grandchildren, Mila Taylor and Hudson Taylor. Mr. Mooney graduated from Ensley High School in 1971 and is a 1975 graduate of the University of Alabama. He loved Alabama Football especially with the two recent National Championships. He was a loving husband, son and father. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Elmwood Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at Elmwood Chapel at 10:30 am and process to the cemetery.
