

LUCAS, JOHNNIE T. SR., of Birmingham, Alabama passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was a member or Briarwood Presbyterian Church and the Homestead Sunday School class and a long-time member of Roebuck Park/NorthPark Baptist Church previously. He believed on the Lord Jesus as his Savior and was baptized in his mid-thirties during the ministry of Larry Draper at Roebuck Park Baptist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed attending both churches. He is survived by his wife Beverly, his sons James Lucas (Jane), Johnny Lucas, Jr. (Patti) and two grandchildren he adores, Jason Lucas and Anna Lucas. He is also survived by two sisters, Nora Russell, and Alice Nunally, brothers Walter Lucas and Houston Lucas (Barbara) and many nieces and nephews. Johnnie loved his family and friends deeply. He was a man of many talents and knew how to do everything from sewing buttons back in place to just about any home repair job you could name. He enjoyed traveling with his family, being active in his community and the business community, as well as being a life long fan of the Crimson Tide. He was a long-time member of City Sales Club and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship. Johnnie was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. His family loves him and will miss him more than tongue can tell. Isaiah 51:11, "And the ransomed of The Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." Romans 8:38-39, "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." In lieu of flowers the family requests contribution be made to Briarwood Presbyterian Church for the Mercy Ministry or Faith Promise to support missions - 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham AL 35243. The service is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Ridout's in Trussville, AL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, funeral at 11:00 am and graveside for family only to follow.
