Joe was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and an usher. He was previously a member of Valleydale Baptist church where he taught adult Sunday school for many years. Joe was predeceased by his father Thomas Clayton Cardwell and mother Nelle Gattis Cardwell. Joe was a wonderful grandfather to his grandson, Nathaniel. He taught him how to fish, throw a football, play baseball, and spent many hours playing with him. He was always patient, kind, and loving.
