Joseph Edward Rogers, age 81 of Pelham, AL passed away September 15, 2024. Mr. Rogers was born in Fairfield, Alabama. He graduated from Jones Valley High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Joe retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years as a Crane Operator. He enjoyed his retirement working outside in his garden and feeding the birds. He also was a collector of fine items such as rare coins and handcrafted knives.
He was preceded in death by his “Home Run” wife of 18 years, Cynthia Rogers, his parents, Alfred Moses Sr. and Emma Rogers. His older brothers Alfred Moses, Jr. “Sut” and William Ralph Rogers. He is survived by his daughter, Paige Chandler; step-son Heath Barnett (Meredith); grandchildren, Jessa M’Lynn Chandler, Rebecca “Ashe” Barnett, Connor Barnett (LaShae), Kaelyn Barnett and Sabrina Barnett and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel from 10-11:00am, with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests that Joe be honored by donations to Alabama Wildlife Center | 100 Terrace Drive, Pelham, AL 35124
