

Josephine Rusnak, 91, passed away on May 31, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Vito Maio, and sister, Gloria Narez, all of Staten Island, NY, as well as her husband, Joseph Rusnak, who passed away in 2009 several months after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She and her husband lived most of their married life in Fords, NJ. She is survived by her sister, Amelia Maio, of Staten Island NY, niece, Janet Appel, of Woodbridge, NJ and daughters Patricia Arberg of Allentown, PA and Maryellen (Alan) Williams of Birmingham. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Erika (Michael) Schmit of Marietta, GA, Sara (Kevin) Liles of Vestavia Hills, AL, Michael Arberg of Brick, NJ and Lisa Arberg of Sunrise, FL. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren – Emily, Lauren and Matthew Schmit and Graham, Luke and Sophie Liles.
Mrs. Rusnak enjoyed the last 2 ½ years of her life at St. Martin’s Independent Living where she enjoyed playing Scrabble on her computer, doing crossword puzzles, listening to talk radio, studying the Bible, socializing with her friends and being involved in the many activities at St. Martin’s. After a bout with the flu and pneumonia she spent the last several weeks of her life in the Cottages at St. Martin’s. The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses, staff and caregivers at St. Martin’s who helped make her final days peaceful and happy.
Mrs. Rusnak was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for the last 50 years. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 4, at 1 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 320 Grants Mill Dr. Irondale, AL. 35210. Donations can be made in her memory to this address.
