Joy Lee Nix Reynolds, age 67, passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on June 7, 2026. She was a beloved family member and friend. She lived a life marked by independence, kindness, and compassion.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Reynolds; her parents, Marvin Nix and Peggy Hayden Nix.
She leaves behind a large loving and caring family who will cherish her memory, including her brother Mike Nix (Charlotte), nephews Andy Nix and Adam Nix, niece Megan Nix, and many aunts, uncles and cousins and their extended families. Two of Joy’s closest friends, Dawn Pate and Mylana Motes, will dearly miss her.
Joy found happiness in the simple things of life. She loved to create arts and crafts, travel to shows and festivals, and spend time with the family and friends she adored. She possessed a truly kind heart and was always concerned about the well-being of others.
The family will receive friends and family on June 11, 2026 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. A celebration of Joy’s life will follow at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel on June 11, 2026 11:00 AM . She will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents, grandparents and other family members under a large oak tree at Elmwood Cemetery.
