Juanita Richards Daniels

Juanita was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Florence Grier and Ralph Richards. She attended Inglenook Elementary School and Phillips High School. She had a genuine and inspiring love for her Lord Jesus Christ who she worshiped and served. She experienced long-term friendships while attending Valleydale Baptist Church. Nita found joy in gardening, reading and often frequented the Valleydale Baptist Church Library. She also enjoyed being part of the Red Hat Society for years. Her most enjoyable memories included travels with her many friends and visits with relatives in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Delaware and Oregon. Having lived in Atlanta, GA for 11 years, she had special friends at Snellville Baptist Church and neighbors in both Snellville and Buford, GA. When you met Nita, you knew right away that she loved her Auburn Tigers, SEC basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball.

She was married to Charles L Daniels, Jr. for 64 years until his passing in 2021. They were proud parents of Nancy Gray (Gary) and Jeff Daniels (Robbie). Their five grandchildren include Grant Allen (FL), Andrew Daniels (Molly – AR), Makenzie Daniels (AL), Gary Gray (DE) and Nick Gray (DE). They also have 4 great-grandchildren. Predeceasing Nita are her parents, Ralph and Florence Richards as well as sisters Nora Wilkinson, Martha Stradley, Louise Swindal and brothers, Ralph Richards Jr. and Jimmy Richards.

The family wants to thank Aveanna Hospice for their passionate and loving care as well as the staff at Brookdale Retirement Community where she resided the past five years. Nita was fortunate to have a companion the past 3 years in David Hansen until his passing in 2025. If you knew Nita, she was a happy, fun-loving, game-playing and easy person to be around encouraging others to do the same. Her favorite motto was “If Life gives you Lemons, then make Lemonade” and her family can attest that she lived her life as such.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, on August 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, on August 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. A private family burial will occur at Forest Hills Cemetery following the funeral service.
