She was born May 4, 1922 in Kingsport, Tennessee where she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. In Kingsport she met her husband Jack Cox to whom she was married for 58 years. Mrs. Cox was a devoted wife and mother to their 3 children and always active in her local church. She taught youth and adult Bible Study Groups in Tennessee, New Hampshire and Alabama and was especially active in the Homebound Ministry. She was always ready to share her love of Jesus with others. At the time of her death she was a member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Lyons and Mary Sue Warden Lyons, loving husband Jack Cox, Sr., daughter Jennifer Cox Smith and son Jeff Cox as well as 8 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son Jack Cox, Jr.; grandchildren Chris Cox, Catherine Cox, Sarah Shirvanian and Ruth Allen; great grandchildren Taylor Cox, Annemarie Cox, Ashlyn Cox, Elizabeth Tremblay-Cox, Tessa Tremblay-Cox and Anna Grace Tremblay-Cox; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, January 3 at Meadow Brook Baptist Church with memorial service immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Meadow Brook Baptist Church or First Baptist Church of Birmingham.
