It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly G. McManus, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He left us on February 26, 2025 at age 77. Kelly was known to those closest to him for his kindness, his infectious laugh, and his love for his family. As an infant, he spent nearly a year in an iron lung after contracting polio, but his disabilities never held him back. He was a warrior indeed and a role model to so many.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kelleen, sister, Myrna Linker and brother, Mickey McManus (Patsy). Kelly had two sons, Michael (Denise) and Brian (Holly) and 6 grandchildren, Zack (McKenzie), Bradley Cole, Paige, Charlie, and Chase as well as great-granddaughter, Jinnie Kate. In addition, Kelly had a stepson, Nicholas Smith (Heather), children, Emilee (son, Theo), Robbie, and Kellen, and stepdaughter, Ashley Smith-Coe (deceased).
Kelly received his bachelor’s degree from King’s College in Charlotte NC in 1968. He moved to Birmingham in 1973 where he worked for ADP for 40+ years in Product Development and Support. He was loved and respected by his peers and received numerous awards and special recognitions during his tenure there.
Kelly was a member of Irondale United Methodist Church. He was a passionate Alabama football fan and a life-long UNC Tar Heels basketball fan.
We will miss him greatly and will always carry his memory in our hearts.
