Kenneth R. Caldwell “Rod”, 85, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Donna J. Caldwell. Rod is survived by his daughters, Kim Halcomb (Jason); Kristi Pearson (Kevin); Kelli Thomason; grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren Halcomb; Kenslei Selman (Matt), Kade Pearson; and Dylan Thomason; great-grandchildren, Kash, Knox, Krew, and Mattie Grace Selman.
Rod was a loving husband. He cared for Donna for many years during her illness. He was a huge family man who took joy with being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Daddy Rod”. Rod loved to have fun and was always making everyone laugh. He had a very happy and optimistic outlook on life.
Rod proudly served in the US Army where he climbed and maintained radio towers overseas. Rod was an avid Alabama football fan and golfer. He loved playing guitars and music. He graduated from the University of Alabama. Rod owned his own Nationwide Agency until his retirement. Rod loved the Lord and was a strong believer and prayer warrior.
A visitation will be on March 8, 2024 from 12:45 to 1:30 at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home. A brief service will follow in the chapel. A private family graveside service will be at a later time.
