WRIGHT, AGNES LAVELLE went home to be with her Lord on June 12, 2020. She was born to Joshua and Dovie Mann on January 11, 1929, in Double Springs, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willis and Cecil; her grandson, Jonathon, and her beloved husband of 53 years, Clell Earl Wright, Sr. Mrs. Wright and her husband traveled with an oil crew in the early years of their marriage, before moving to Birmingham in 1958. She worked for the Women’s Missionary Union and ran her own printing business, before working as church and pastor’s secretary at South Avondale Baptist Church until she retired in 1991. She and Clell were members of South Avondale for more than 40 years, where she served in many capacities including Sunday School Director, WMU leader and Sunday School teacher. She taught for many years in the college and career department, where she welcomed many students into her home while they were in college in Birmingham. After South Avondale closed she joined First Baptist Center Point where she faithfully served until her passing. She was also a Service Corp Missionary with the North American Mission Board serving with M-POWER Ministries. LaVelle was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by three sons, Larry Mann, Clell Jr., and John; by 3 wonderful daughters-in-law, Diane, Angela and BeBe; grandchildren Travis Mann and Jason Mann, Josh Wright and Laura Juanillo, and Christopher Wright, Ashley Howell and Audrey Mehl; grandchildren-in-law Mahaley Mann, Melanie Mann, Andrea Wright, Drew Juanillo, Tiffany Wright, Daniel Howell, and Nate Mehl; as well as great-grandchildren Trevor Mann, Trey Mann, Katherine Mann and Leah Mann, Colton Wright, Lexie and Luca Juanillo, and Logan and Henry Wright; two “adopted” granddaughters, Hiliary Cranston and husband Greg and Leisi Majka and husband Mike; and many devoted nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family is only doing a visitation and graveside service for extended family. They will be scheduling a memorial service later in the summer when, hopefully, some of the restrictions from COVID-19 will be lifted.
