Pope, Lillian Hutchens passed away Saturday March 17, 2012 at the age of 87. Mrs. Pope was born on March 22, 1924, in Oakman, Alabama, and was a long-time resident of Birmingham. After spending many years as a caregiver for her family, she retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education where she worked at Erwin High School, where she received honor and recognition from both students and faculty. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Pope and parents, Luther and Reydonia Hutchens. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Wayne) Tidwell of Oneonta and granddaughter Denise (Don) Moye of Cropwell, as well as nine loving siblings, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside service will be Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Ridout's Trussville Chapel directing. The family will receive friends at Trussville Chapel from 12 Noon until 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday prior to the service.
