

Linda Rutledge, a vibrant and beloved soul, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on March 27, 1954, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Earnest and Leola Brown, Linda lived a life full of love, resilience, and dedication to her family and community. She fought a courageous battle with stage four cancer, with strength, faith, and grace.
Linda was predeceased by her parents; her husband of many years, Leonard Rutledge; and her siblings Thomas Charles Brown, Grace Marshall, Mari Pearl Brooks, Jerry Brown, Carl Brown, and Annetha Brown. She is survived by her two devoted sisters: Lenora Townes (Johnny Townes) and Sheila Watkins (Tobbie Watkins Jr.); her four cherished daughters: Lorrina Rutledge, Laresa Rutledge Smith (Analdrea), Aubrianna Rutledge, and Tessly Rutledge; eight treasured grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A woman of many talents and passions, Linda dedicated over three decades to nurturing children as the owner of "Little Castle Home DayCare," a daycare that became a cornerstone for countless families. Her career also included roles as a counselor and school teacher. Beyond her professional endeavors, Linda opened her heart as a foster parent to children in need. Her love for service extended into every aspect of her life. She was truly a servant at heart.
Linda’s faith was central to her life. For more than 25 years, she was a faithful and dedicated member of New Life Interfaith Ministries. Her commitment to God guided her actions and inspired those around her. She embodied the values of kindness and compassion in all that she did.
Known for her zest for life, Linda loved to travel and could often be found dancing wherever music played. Her radiant personality lit up every room she entered. She had an undeniable charm that made everyone feel welcome, she never met a stranger. Linda’s love for makeup and lipstick reflected her vibrant spirit; she took pride in presenting herself with grace and style.
Her family was the center of her world. She adored her daughters and grandchildren deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. Those who knew Linda remember her as funny, fun-loving, resilient, God-fearing, and full of life. Linda was beautiful soul who brought joy to everyone she encountered.
Linda’s legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and service. May the memories of her remarkable life bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
