Linda Ellen Wise, lovingly known as Nana, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Calera, Alabama, at the age of 83. Born in Jasper, Alabama, on August 7, 1942, Linda lived a life marked by faith, family, and service to others.
A proud graduate of West End High School, Linda dedicated much of her life to Canaan Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the children’s and youth ministries and worked tirelessly behind the scenes in housekeeping. Her devotion to her church family reflected her deep love for helping others and sharing God’s love.
Linda’s favorite pastime was reading, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She cherished every moment with them, creating memories that will live on for generations. Traveling with her loved ones was one of her greatest pleasures, and her annual trips to the Gulf Coast were a highlight she looked forward to each year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren C. Snyder and Wilma Cochran Cox; her stepmother, Joyce Snyder; her beloved husband, Wallace O. Wise; her granddaughter, Jonni Lynn Lambert; her sister, Janet Snyder; and her son-in-law, Rick Rogers.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by her children, Ellen Rogers; Wallace Wise II (Christy); and John Wise; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, followed by a service at 2:00 pm. Linda will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Linda’s memory to Big Oak Ranch, an organization close to her heart. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Enhabit Home Hospice for their compassionate care.
Linda’s life was a testament to faith, family, and selfless love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
