Linwood R. Shiflett III of Alton, Alabama passed away at his home on Sunday, February 21, 2021 of natural causes. A much beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Linwood lived an honorable and generous life which was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We find peace in our loss in knowing he is reaping the rewards of a life eternally focused. Mr. Shiflett was a lifelong resident of the Alton community and attended Queenstown Baptist Church and Hanks Freewill Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Graduating from Hewitt-Trussville High School in 1951, he later attended Birmingham Southern College after serving his military obligations working many years for Hayes International and Tree Farmers Equipment Company in Talladega, Alabama. Mr. Shiflett was predeceased by his parents, Linwood R. Shiflett, Jr. and Sarah Katherine Lucas Shiflett; a brother, William Lucas Shiflett. He is survived by his sister, Frances Shiflett Channell of Pell City, Al; his nieces, Katherine C. Harvey, Karen C. Rich, Sherry Shiflett Fields, and Sharon Frances Shiflett; one nephew, William “Billy” A. Channell, Jr.; and many great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Thursday, February 25th from 12:30 to 1:30 followed by a graveside service at Forest Crest Cemetery at 2:00pm.
