Luanne Bayne Coggin

Luanne was born on November 25, 1941 in Charlotte, North Carolina to parents Samuel Jefferson Bayne Jr. and Grace King Bayne. Luanne was raised in Alabama and graduated from Ramsay High School. She was married to Sammy Coggin for 14 years in which time they adopted daughter Shelley Coggin at just 3 months old. Luanne lived a life filled with love, and unwavering devotion to her family. Throughout her life, she spread a contagious light in the room with her funky spirit, caring heart, and love for music.

Luanne loved dancing, music, cooking, and gardening. She was known for her energetic spirit, forthright nature and a genuine love for God, family, and friends. In her later years, she loved reading, painting, and crafting. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who spent her time focused on her family, her friends, and her precious cat, Sheeba.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Shelley Coggin; her cherished granddaughter, Morgan Feltman along with her 3 great grandsons, her brother, Jeff Bayne III and half-sister, Linda Castleberry. She was preceded in death by her mother Grace King Masters and her father, Samuel Jefferson Bayne Jr. along with her grandparents Dana and Papa.

A Visitation will be held in her honor Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10 AM at Elmwood Chapel with a Funeral Service to follow at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital where Luanne donated for over 20 years.

Her spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
