Mrs. Mae L. Washington age 70 of Adamsville, Alabama died Monday, July 2, 2012. She was a 1958 graduate of Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Business School and earned certification in Data Entry where she applied her skills working at RCA. After marriage, she decided to quit working and take on the full-time job of being a homemaker. Mae took great pride in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Being family and taking care of family was very near and dear to her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Smith and Adgie Wella Smith; her sisters, Dorothy Mae Williams, Bobby Jean Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband of 50 years, Lawrence Washington, Jr.; two children, Lorraine Ackerson and Lawrence Washington, III; four grandchildren, Ashley Linette Washington, Nicholas Lawrence Washington, Joshua Matthew Lawrence Washington, and Grant Kennedy Washington; sister, Will B. Crawley; brother, J.D. Smith, Jr.; a host of relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Elmwood Chapel followed by a Chapel Mass at 1:00 pm with Father Vernon F. Huguley officiating. Entombment will follow in Elmwood Mausoleum.
