Margaret Hubbard

Margaret Zeigler Hubbard went to be with Jesus peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Margaret was born at home in Fort Deposit, AL on April 4, 1929. Margaret's parents, Emmett Clyde Zeigler and Lucile Chastaine Tompkins Zeigler, brother, Peter Zeigler, and sister, Jane Logan Zeigler, precede her in death.

Margaret lived with her family on a pecan orchard and farm in Lowndes County, Alabama for the first 17 years of life. When she was in elementary school at a confirmation class at Fort Deposit United Methodist Church, she made her profession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Margaret graduated a year early as Valedictorian from Lowndes County High School. She went to the University of Alabama where she met the love of her life in English class, Lewis Hubbard. While attending the University of Alabama, her father died. Margaret took a year off from college to help her Mother as they put the farm up for auction. After graduation from Alabama with a BA degree in Secondary Education, majoring in English, Margaret and Lewis were married at the historic Fort Deposit United Methodist Church on August 18, 1950. They began their life together living in Nashville, Tennessee, which was the first of many moves for them while Lewis worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. January 11, 1953, Margaret Cecile Hubbard was born to the couple, and two years later, a second daughter, Pamela Jane Hubbard, was born to complete their family. Margaret and Lewis were always active in a Southern Baptist Church with every move to cities such as Huntsville, AL, Memphis, TN, Opelika, AL, Hartford, CT, Savannah, GA, Knoxville, TN, New Orleans, LA., and Birmingham, AL. Margaret was a loving, active mother to Cite and Pam, while being involved with the National Federation of Republican Women, Freedom Foundation, Newcomers Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Hoover Gourmet Club, Hoover Historical Society, teaching youth Sunday School and Training Union, serving in officer positions in Women's Missionary Union, making visits as a member of the Homebound ministry, and The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, serving as a bell ringer during the holidays, and a tutor at Simmons Middle School in Hoover. She has been an active member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church for over 56 years.

Her family includes her two married daughters, Cecile Hubbard White (Ed) of Kernersville, NC and Pam Hubbard Stanley (Bill) of Birmingham, AL. Margaret adored her four grandchildren Will Stanley (Carrie) of Franklin, TN, Davis Stanley (Chelsea) of Birmingham, AL, CeCe Robeson (Lee) of Raleigh, NC and Lori White of Raleigh, NC. She is blessed with seven great grandchildren.

The Memorial Service, conducted by Dr. Danny Wood and Michael Adler, will be held at 11:00 am on September 11, 2026 at Elmwood Chapel. Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Margaret Zeigler Hubbard can be made to either Shade Mountain Baptist Church (Make Jesus Known Missions Fund), 2017 Columbiana Road, Birmingham, AL. 35216 or to Big Oak Ranch, 6000 Shelley Dr, Springville, AL 35146.
