

Margaret Lewis, age 85 of Birmingham, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015. She was a beloved mother and loving grandmother and great grandmother. Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Lee Glenn and Raymond L. Lewis, parents, Grady B. Stephens and Agnes S. Stephens, sister Bobbie S. Miller, daughter Vanessa Lewis Staffen and son Robert L. Boyd (Janette). She leaves behind five daughters, Tommie Glenn Cummings (Lewis) and Debbie Glenn Barnes (David) of Vestavia, AL, Alene Johnson (Don), Diana L. Herbert (Herbie), Kathy L. McCoy, and son John T. Boyd (Betty) all of Texas; grandchildren, Lewis W. 'Trey' Cummings III (Mary), Stephen G. Cummings (Cayleigh), Reagan L. Salter, and Alex Barnes of Birmingham and Mary Elizabeth Long (Nathan) and Johnny Boyd (Torrie), Holly Pate (Tommy), Kevin Lovelace (Carol), Eric Herbert (Marsha), Brad Herbert, Terra Barraza (Ralph), Amber K. Pike (Brent), Meghan M. Kisler (Adam), Alexandra McCoy, numerous great grandchildren. Margaret also leaves behind two brothers, Norman Stephens (Christine) of North Carolina, and Jimmy Stephens (Faye) of Birmingham and her beloved caregiver, niece Pam Stephens Horstman as well as several nieces and nephews. Margaret loved each of the special names she was given. She answered to Grandmoma, GM, Grandmother, Granny and Gram and amused by the sweet children that had their own name for her. She was full of life. Her passion was spending time with her family, especially her local great grandchildren Kinsley, Marian, Claire and Amelia Cummings, and Emma Grace Salter all of whom spent time with her regularly. She loved theatre, dance, traveling and cooking. When she was no longer able to cook, she entertained herself by watching cooking programs, many times with her Great-Grandchildren. Sons and Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers – Trey Cummings, Stephen Cummings, Lewis Cummings, Alex Barnes, David Barnes, John Boyd and Johnny Boyd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Elmwood. Mike McLemore officiating. Piano music provided by Phyllis Hoffman DePiano. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 5th with the funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. Memorials may be made to UAB for the Tommie G.
