

Margaret Lucy Swain, 63, of Adamsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Born on August 13, 1962, in Birmingham, Alabama, Margaret lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to those around her.
Margaret graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Her career journey was diverse and meaningful. She often reflected fondly on her time as a waitress in her earlier years, considering it one of her proudest accomplishments. Later, she dedicated 11 years to working at UAB, where she made lasting contributions and connections.
Margaret had a deep love for the Lord and carried her faith with her throughout her life. She was known for her sweet spirit and humble nature. Those who knew Margaret will remember her as kind-hearted and caring, always living life to the fullest. Her sense of humor brought joy to many; she loved to laugh and had a remarkable ability to make others laugh alongside her.
In her leisure time, Margaret found joy in playing games such as Uno and Scrabble, reading books, creating beautiful loom crafts, and listening to music. These simple pleasures reflected her warm spirit and vibrant personality. She also had a special love for animals, which brought her great comfort and happiness. During the last ten years of her life, Margaret resided at Dogwood Residential, where she formed many meaningful friendships with residents and staff who became like family. She treasured those relationships and the love and companionship they shared.
Margaret is survived by her sister Ophelia "Kaye” Whitfield and dear friend Ranee Bosdell. She was predeceased by her mother Ila Faye and brother Gary R. Swain.
Margaret's memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. May the joy she brought into the world continue to inspire all who remember her.
