Marie, age 97 of Birmingham met her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 22nd. She was a lifetime member of the Samford Legacy League, longtime member of the Alabama Federated Women’s Club, Thalian Literary Society, LLL Club, WMU, and very active in her church, Crestway Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dunton M. Broughton; daughter, Ruth Rutledge; and grandson, Ronald P. Rutledge. Marie is survived by her two daughters; Vangie Thames and Barbara Dorman (Andy); her one son, Mac Broughton; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Graveside Services were held at Elmwood Cemetery on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Crestway Baptist Church.
