Marie Lee Stovall was born in Memphis, TN on May 21, 1927, to the late Charles Gilmer Lee and Theo Emma Krag Lee. She passed away on July 10, 2022. Marie attended school and worked in the Memphis area until 1956, when she moved to Birmingham, AL. She worked at various hospitals in the Memphis area as an X-Ray Technician. In Birmingham, she was a nurse’s assistant to several doctors in the area.
Marie was a life-long member of Independent Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, where she was a faithful member of her Sunday School Class until her stroke in 2017. She enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, caring for her dogs and cats, and socializing with her neighbors. Marie was beloved by her children and grandchildren, who enjoyed playing in her back yard and going on day-trip adventures with her. She loved to travel and visited cities and National Parks throughout the US. Her international travel included trips to Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Greece. Marie loved to have projects in and around her home. She was always planning the next project or trip or some other enjoyment of life. She was a constant participant in dance, exercise, and yoga. Her determination and zest for life was contagious and she was an inspiration to her friends.
