Marion Murphy 97 of Birmingham passed on January 17, 2016. Marion was born on January 8, 1919. She was preceded in death by her parents Quillan R. Murphy and Ettie Jett Murphy; brothers Quillan R. Murphy Jr. and Joseph W. Murphy. Marion graduated from Birmingham Southern and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from personnel work with the government department of defense in Mobile, Pensacola and Birmingham. She is survived by two nephews, Bill Murphy (Laura) of Ozark and John D. Murphy of Alabaster; great niece Megan Murphy and great nephew Wade Murphy; sister-in-law Carol Murphy and cousins Olivia Bowers, Lorna West and Bill Jett and longtime friend and caregiver Sandra Gilbert and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with graveside services and burial following at 11:00 a. m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
