

Marion Taylor “Bob” Williams, Jr. born May 1, 1926 in Birmingham, AL died July 19, 2022 in Hoover, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Taylor Williams and Mabel Issabelle Baxter; his stepmother, Lillian Mae Rodemaker Williams; his siblings, Arthur Baxter Williams (Jacqueline Jackson Williams) and Flora Belle Williams Miley (Harry Lane Miley); and his wife of 63 years, Virginia Lee Lusk Williams.
Most of Bob’s youth was spent in Shreveport, Louisiana. In January 1942, the family moved to Newport News, VA, where Bob began his sophomore year at age 15 at Newport News High School, while also working nights at Newport News Shipbuilding Company. At 17, he enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserve as an Aviation Cadet, and at age 18 graduated from high school and received his orders for active duty. He served in various airbases until VJ Day.
Following the war, he attended Auburn University, where he met his wife to be, Virginia Lee Lusk in her sophomore year. Bob graduated in December 1949 and married Virginia on April 23, 1950.
He is survived by his second wife, Mary Altha Williams; his children, Marjorie Gale May, Robert Marion Williams (Suzette Adams Williams), and Rachel Lea Warren; his stepson, James Russell Watson (Nancy Watson); his grandchildren, Amanda Hacker (Wade), Craig Evans (Alison), Loren Humphries (Samuel), Kaitlin Warren, Taylor Warren, and Andrew Williams; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Bob’s church home was Third Presbyterian Church, pastored by Richard Trucks. The love he received from all age levels filled and taught him the love of God that brought him to his walk with God.

A visitation will be Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Elmwood Chapel from 1pm – 2 pm; with funeral services to follow at 2pm.
