Martha W Hughes

Martha Wynell (Armstrong) Hughes, age 82, of Vandiver, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years Bobby D. Hughes. She is survived by her daughter Tracy Taylor (Jamie), grandsons Zachary (Miranda) and Colby (Mariah), and three great-grandchildren: Sydney, Macy, and Jamie. Martha was the cherished center of a large extended family. Born in Oneonta, Alabama, she moved to Birmingham as a child. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1958 and spent most of her life in Center Point, as a generous neighbor and faithful member of Hilldale Baptist Church. Martha was a helper and a giver. She made a place in her heart and home for those in need. She loved her Bible, and Alabama football. She loved to laugh and chat, especially when sitting by the family pool in the summertime or at her always overflowing kitchen table. Family and friends will miss Martha’s twinkling blue eyes and her big, beautiful smile that lasted until the end.

A visitation for Martha will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
