Martha Jane Montgomery Mitchell, age 90, passed on June 22 from her earthly home at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and other loved ones who had preceded her. She was born on July 20, 1926, to B.E. and Minnie P Montgomery in Fairfield, Alabama and moved to Ripley, Mississippi where she spent her childhood. Subsequently she moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where she met' and married the love of her life, Samuel Earl Mitchell. She spent her life nurturing and raising her family and for 70 years she was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by two sons, Samuel Earl Mitchelt Jr (Delia a devoted daughter-in-law) of Saltillo, Mississippi, Charles Alan Mitchell of Damascus, Maryland, two grandsons, S Jonathan Mitchell (Niki) of Tupelo and Daniel R. Mitchel} of Saltillo, a great granddaughter Ada Ansley Mitchell, and a niece, Jimmie France of Irvin, Texas. Funeral will be held on June 28 at Johns-Ridouts Funeral Home in Birmingham with viewing/visitation to begin at l0am followed by a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery.
