Born on October 15, 1946, in Alabama, Mary lived a life marked by responsibility, dignity, and strength. She was retired from GAB Robins, now Sedgwick, and was known to those around her as a strong, independent, and deeply loved woman. Her wisdom and perseverance shaped everyone who knew her, and she believed in meeting life with steadiness and resolve, even through difficult times.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Jasper AL, a place that was part of her life and faith community. She also had a deep love for cats and cared greatly about the Humane Society, reflecting the importance compassion held in her life.
To her family, Mary was more than a mother and grandmother; she was a source of guidance, resilience, and love, and in the end, a best friend. She is survived by her brother Wallace J Pickett III; son, Jerry Tingle and his wife, Jeana and their children; Kara Barber and her husband, Cade, Garrett Tingle, and Elyse Tingle; and her great-granddaughter, Isabella Barber.; her daughter, Stacey Stevenson and her son Alex Gunn; her stepdaughter, Marsha Finley; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Fannie Pickett and Wallace J. Pickett, Jr.; her brother, Lester E. Pickett; and her grandson, Joziah Jones.
Mary Jane Finley’s strength, wisdom, and independent spirit will live on in those she leaves behind. She will be remembered with love and respect by her family, her church community, and all who knew her.
