

Mary Pearl Gosa, 81, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, in Hueytown, Alabama. Born on April 15, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama, she lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Mary received her early education at Ravine Elementary and graduated from Westfield High School. She continued her studies at Wenonah Junior College, laying the foundation for a successful career. Her professional journey began in California, where she worked in the banking industry. Mary excelled in the loan department and was recognized with several awards for her outstanding contributions. Upon returning to Alabama, she resumed her work in the loan department. She concluded her career at Serrote Law Office, where she focused on debt collection.
A woman of deep faith, Mary became a member of the Oakridge Church of Christ at a very young age, and later in life she continued her worship at 24th Street Church of Christ in Bessemer, Alabama. This church remained her spiritual home throughout her life and until her final days. Her unwavering devotion to the Lord was evident in all aspects of her life.
Mary had a zest for life that was reflected in her many hobbies and passions. She loved traveling and especially enjoyed cruising. At home, she could often be found walking around singing or baking cakes and pies—activities that brought joy to those around her. Her warm smile and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry Gosa and Quentella Smith Gosa; as well as her brother Zayzay JD Gosa. Mary is survived by her beloved aunt Odessa Smith-Henderson; three siblings: Betty Ruth Gosa, Quentella Gosa-Williams, and Henry Edward Gosa Jr.; along with numerous relatives including the Smith family, Thornton family, Bradford family, Spann family, Lavender family, Almanza family, McCroy family, Turner Williams Jr family; as well as a host of cousins and cherished family and friends.
Mary will be remembered as a kind-hearted yet stern woman who always said what she meant and meant what she said. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she carried herself with an infectious happiness that brightened the lives of those around her.
