Mary A. Leonard

Mary was born August 21, 1926 in Curry, Alabama to Marion and Birdie (Wilson) Abbott. Mary graduated from Curry High School in Curry, AL.

After the birth of her two children she graduated from the University School of Nursing in Birmingham, Alabama (now UAB) as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked 20 years and was a caring and efficient nurse.

Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mary is survived by her daughter Carol (Frank) Startley and son Jeffery Leonard; granddaughter Leslie (Patrick) Murrah; two great-grandchildren Cade and Easton Murrah; two brothers, James C. Abbott and Eugene (Jimmye) Abbott; sister Jo (Bill) Gant; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Birdie (Wilson) Abbott; four brothers, Marvin Abbott, Garlin Abbott, Carson Abbott, and Charles Abbott; and a sister Mexie Abbott Morgan.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, February 8 at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, AL with the Rev. Clyde Dutton officiating.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived her life devoted to her family and will be missed by everyone.
