Mary Virginia Maple

December 5, 1928September 15, 2019

Mary Virginia Milan Maple was born on December 5, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama to Veto and Virginia Milan. Mary left us on September 15, which is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, to be with her Lord and Savior. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Philip B. Maple, grandson, Philip T. Maple, and sister, JoAnn Milan Piazza. Mary was a beautiful person that loved and always prayed for everyone in need. Mary was an active and proud member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mary worked many years in the home raising her two children, before working in retail and then side by side with her loving husband in several businesses. She loved cooking for family and friends. Her dedication to her God and faith was evident as she prayed daily for all who needed help getting through tough times and was often asked by others to be added to her prayer list. Mary is survived by and will be sorely missed by her children Ross Maple (Arlene) and Lenajo Carroll (Wayne); her grandchildren Chris Gagliano, Jennifer Parrish, Justin Carroll (Katie), and Brad Carroll (Rebeccah), and her loving great grandchildren. Also her sisters, Frances Rosato, Veta Tortomasi (Anthony), and brother-in-law, Vincent Militello (Krickett); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. We would like to thank Aspire Cahaba and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows, Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 AM in celebration of Mary's life. In lieu of flowers, please prayerfully consider a donation to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the MAPLE family.

No winter without a spring
And beyond the dark horizon
Our hearts will once more sing ….
For those who leave us for a while
Have only gone away
Out of a restless, care worn world
Into a brighter day. (Helen Rice)

I Love You Aunt Mary Virginia

To Ross and family: Mom Maple has been praying for me and my family for 25 years. Her love and devotion to the care and concern she displayed for others was a gift from God directly through her. He chose her because no one else could have been so sincere and caring in delivering His love.
Mom Maple you will always be in my prayers knowing that you rest with our Lord, Phillip and PT.
Love you always. Rich P.

It has been many years since I have seen Mary Virginia Milan Maple, but I do have great memories of her and the family. I so remember Mary Virginia and her family as such kind hearted. Many times I visited with my Mother (Virginia Monte Henley), Veto Milan, Mary Virginia and Joann Piazza. One memory in particular that I remember of Mary Virginia and Joann Piazza was when they brought lots of great Italian food to my Great Grandmother’s home (Sarah Monte) when my Great Grandfather (Sam Monte) passed away in 1970. Again, I will always cherish the great memories of Mary Virginia and the family. Ross, my husband also cherishes the memories of working with you at Wam Burger. Love and hugs to you all.

I love you Momma(Mary) You took your time to teach me to cook real Italian sauce and many other dishes that where family favorites. You prayed and called me during the time I was going through my treatment. Oh what a blessing you where to me knowing that someone was out there praying for me and telling I’m loved.
I will always miss your phone calls and your sweet voice telling me I love you baby. ♥️
I know that you are in Gods arms. He’s saying to you “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Be at peace. 🙏🏻
