Mary Belle Mason of Vestavia Hills, AL passed away on December 11, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Mason was born in Birmingham, AL on January 28, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Velma McWaters; and sister, Jean Franklin. She attended Ensley High School and Bellhaven College in Jackson, MS. Ms. Mason provided care for hundreds of children at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children: son, Warren E. Mason, Jr. (Judy) of Gurley, AL, daughters, Kay Puller (Larry) of Vestavia Hills, AL, Dodie Davidson (Randy) of Indian Springs, AL, Carol Bruser (Buddy) of Pelham, AL, and Holly Cooch (Billy) of Vestavia Hills, AL; grandchildren, Michael Mason (Tamsin), Todd Mason (Ginger), Sherri McLaughlin (Doug), Jill Yelverton (John), Kim Davis (Sam), Courtney Smith, Jennifer Smith, Will Bruser (Tracy), Brent Bruser (Kristen), Mary Kathryn Cooch, and Leigh Ann Cooch; twelve great grandchildren and one due in July. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel beginning at 12:00 noon followed by the service at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. She will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends, and always remembered for her beautiful smile and generous love.
