She was born in Talladega, AL on November 8, 1942, and moved to Birmingham at the age of five. She was a graduate of Shades Valley High School and The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Tom Saxon; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Hill; Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Suzy Saxon (Jim Self); her son, Jeff Saxon (Pam); grandsons, Jake and Luke Saxon; brother, Tom Hill (Peggy); sisters-in-law, Linda Wilson (Lloyd), Cindy Adkins (Mike); brother-in-law, Ricky Saxon; nephew, Stephen Hill; grand nieces, Ellie Adkins, Jane Hatcher, Anna Adkins, Mary Saxon Hatcher, Sadie Adkins; grand nephew, Sam Adkins and many more nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
A private graveside service was held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
