Mary Murray Sutton

Mrs. Mary Murray Sutton of Birmingham, AL went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2020. Mary was born to Robert Clifford & Alice Lyle Murray on July 31, 1922 in Birmingham, AL. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence William Sutton; son, James Robert “Bobby” Sutton; and daughter, Linda Sutton Northington. Mary leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, William “Mickey” & Linda Sutton; grandsons, James Sutton and Brad Northington and his wife, Kelly; granddaughters, Jamie Sutton, Tabitha Watkins, and Stacy Farry; great-grandchildren, Wesley Watkins, Riley Watkins, Evan Farry, Anna Farry, Ryleigh Farry, Ellis Northington, and Jack Northington; son-in-law, Larry Northington; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from West End High School in Birmingham, AL. She married the love of her life, Clarence on February 14, 1942 in Tampa, FL. She worked for Aetna in office administrations for many years. Mary was an active member of both Westend Methodist Church and Irondale Methodist Church. She served as a long-time volunteer for the American Heart Association at Montclair Hospital. She loved her family dearly and loved to play cards with them.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held graveside at Elmwood Cemetery on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 2PM. The service will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of Johns Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel.
