Robert Matthew (Matt) Alderson PhD March 15, 1975 - November 22, 2022 passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2022 while home in Alabama visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday. He was only 47. Dr. Alderson grew up in Homewood, Alabama and graduated from Homewood High School with the Class of 1993. He received his bachelors degree in Psychology from Auburn University, then he went to South Alabama for his Masters, and finally the University of Central Florida for his PhD.
The last 14 years Dr. Alderson has been a part of the Clinical Psychology Faculty at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma specializing in Clinical Child Psychology involving making significant advancements in how ADHD is thought of and how it is treated.
Matt was passionate about his work, music, building guitars, his band, disc golf, art, fishing, his friends, new experiences, so much more, and life in general.
He is preceded in death by his father George Edward Alderson Jr. He is survived by his mother Frances Bales Alderson, his sister Jennifer Alderson Ingram (Jon), his nephew Maxwell Clark Deason, his Sister Susan Alderson Rutledge (Kimbo), Niece Jessica Blackburn Hall , Nephew George Daniel Blackburn (Meghan), Lindsey Ann Blackburn Justice (John), His brother James Edward Alderson (Rene), Nephew James Edward Alderson Jr., Nephew William Bryant Alderson. He also has great nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and more cousins than we count.
A Celebration of Matt's life will be at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel, Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2pm, followed by a graveside committal service at Birmingham's historic Elmwood Cemetery.
