Matthew Paul Denny, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, entered eternal rest on December 5, 2025. Born on Maundy Thursday, April 7, 1977, at 12:20 p.m. in Truro, Cornwall, England, Matthew’s arrival was marked by a shock of auburn hair and a day rich in meaning—the day commemorating the Last Supper and Jesus washing His disciples’ feet. From the very beginning, Matthew’s life reflected humility, service, and love.
He was the cherished son of Petina and Stephen Denny and grew up in England, where he developed a love for family, laughter, and life’s simple joys. With courage and hope, Matthew later “jumped across the pond” to the United States, where he met and married his soulmate, Nicole (“Nicki”) Denny. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering love.
Matthew was a hands-on, present father to his children, David Short and Emma Denny, and an adoring grandfather to Emilee and his soon-to-arrive grandson. His family was his purpose—he lived to ensure they were cared for, happy, and knew they were deeply loved. He was a man of integrity, a role model to his children, nieces, and nephews, and a source of strength and encouragement to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nicki; children, David and Emma; granddaughter Emilee and unborn grandson; mother, Petina Belcher and stepfather, Don Belcher; sisters, Katie Williams and Hannah Williams; nieces, April, Hollie, Lauren, and Alison; nephews, Alex, Oliver, and Jackson; great-nephew, Jimmy; mother-in-law, Toni; father-in-law, Jack; brother-in-law, Jarrod; and sister-in-law, Sarah.
Matthew’s passions were many—he loved Manchester United, collecting watches, shoes, and cologne, playing pool, fast sports cars, gaming, and sharing laughter and jokes. No matter what adversity he faced, Matthew never let it keep him down. For nearly five years, he endured significant physical challenges with dignity, courage, and an indomitable spirit, never complaining or feeling sorry for himself. His resilience and positivity were a testament to his character.
Matthew will be remembered for his huge heart, his ever-present smile, and his unwavering love for those he cared about. His legacy is one of strength, laughter, and devotion. Though he will be deeply missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing this is not goodbye, but “see you later.”
