announces the passing of
Maxine A. Kline Sklute,
who passed away on January 4, 2025.
Maxine A. Kline Sklute was born on February 6, 1935, to Peter J. Kline and Rella Kline, of blessed memory.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Gerald Stuart Sklute;
her brother, Ira Kline; and her sister-in-law, Ann Kline.
Maxine grew up in Forest Park and was confirmed at Temple Beth-El, where she was a member of the same confirmation class as Howard Bearman, who remembers her as “quiet and nice.” As a child, she was also friendly with Bobby Bonfield, of blessed memory, who lived just around the corner.
After completing one semester at the University of Alabama, Maxine decided to pursue a more practical path and enrolled in a local business college. Appreciating order and clarity, she trained as a bookkeeper and went on to build a long and steady career in the field.
Graveside services to be held at
Elmwood Cemetery, Block 40
600 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211
11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Donations in Maxine’s memory may be made to the Temple Beth-El Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
May Maxine rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. May God comfort these mourners among all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
