Melvin Ray Chapman

Ray was born January 31, 1933 and went to be with the Lord December 4, 2015 at the age of 82 after fighting heart and kidney disease. Ray is preceded in death by his mother Hettie Lee and father Perry Lee Chapman.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; one daughter Cindy Muncher (husband Tony); two sons Timothy Chapman (wife Emily) and Stephen Chapman (wife April). The grandchildren are Steven Muncher (Christine), Mary Beth Ricketts (Justin), Carter Chapman, Hunter Chapman, Tyler Chapman, Anna Chapman, Faith Chapman and Connor Chapman. He has one great-granddaughter, Emmaline Georgia Ricketts.

Ray was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and Howard College now Samford University. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also a Mason. Ray and Barbara have been members of First Baptist Church of Trussville for 45 years. Ray taught 6th grade boys and a men’s Sunday School Class during this time.

Visitation will be Sunday December 6, 2015 evening from 5:30PM until 8:00 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. The funeral service will be Monday December 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
