NORMAN, MEREDITH CONNOR “CONNIE”, age 80 of Oneonta formerly of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, M. C. Norman, Sr. and Ruth Jones Norman; wife and mother of his daughters, Faye Black Norman. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joan Brown Norman; brother, Danny Norman (Janis); daughters, Leigh Ann Norman Klie (David), Kathy Norman Barron (Kenneth); grandchildren, Rachel Klie Fincher (Alan) and Nick Klie (Anna Claire); and great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kayleigh Fincher, and Owen Klie.
His Brown children, Cmd Sgt. Major Michael J. Brown (Cindy), David Edward Brown (Karen Burnett) and Dana Michelle Brown; grandchildren, Brittney Brown Clark (Drake), Michael “Bubba” Brown (Layne) and Anna Danya Brown; and great-grandson, Conrad Clark.
Very special chosen children, Lois Gallo (Jason) and Zaiden; Kevin Walls (Jamie) and Katherine, Kaylee and Jacob; and Mary Carolyn Kidd (Joshua) and Jackson.
Connie was raised in the East Lake area of Birmingham. He attended Woodlawn High School and Auburn University. He was employed for many years at Rust Eng. working on the original buildings of what is now the complex of UAB and later Dockery Electric.
Fishing was his favorite pastime and was a member of several fishing clubs. His favorite partners who were like family are Tom Dawkins and Kevin Walls. After retiring he enjoyed living on Logan Martin where he could spend everyday fishing. Later he and his wife Joan moved to Oneonta to love a very leisure retirement on the farm. For everyone who was fortunate to share friendship with Connie and be with us in prayer, may you be Blessed. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 4-6 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel with service beginning at 6 PM. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta on Thursday.
