I first met Mickey @ Woodlawn, where we became good friends.  Our friendship carried on after I  met my husband and they became friends.  Randy, the girls & I  spent countless hours on the lake, fishing, swimming & having bonfires with Mickey.  For the last 18 years we've not seen each other quite as much. One of my favorite memories is when Mickey came out to our house in McCalla several days to help build a back deck, mostly he built it (his way) he never wanted us to pay him;  he just said let me do my "signature post" and that would be pay enough.  Now I have his very talented handy work right out my back door.  He will never be forgotten and always remembered as a long time friend.      

My heart is saddened at hearing the loss of a longtime childhood friend, Mickey Black. A myriad of the fondest memories of life run through my mind.
The days spent running barefoot,swimming, riding bikes, building homemade go carts out of scrap wood and old lawnmower wheels. His grandfather  helped us. We rode down the hill in Stacy Circle, taking turns pushing the other back up the hill. 
Roller skating and skateboarding down the hill. Busting my rear quite a few times😂
Skating at Rainbow Roller Rink.  Playing basketball and softball at the bottom of the circle making one particular lady mad when the ball would land in her bushes. Playing chase, hiding go seek and catching fireflies after dark. I can hear my fathers whistle which signaled it was time for me to come in. I would whistle back to say I heard his call.
We fished in the creek. Caught  tadpoles and frogs,had carnivals to earn money. We gave away our “ junk” as prizes for the games. 
We also sold popcorn and lemonade.
We built clubhouses and forts.
Waited for the ice cream truck.
Fought like brother and sister only to go out to play the next day.
His brother Tracey joined us in most of these adventures. His sister Pam Black Elmore taught me how to put on makeup😂. When we were lucky enough to get snow we slid down the hill on plastic trash can lids or whatever we could find that would work. Pam fell and busted her nose😢

He had a gentle spirit and was always giving to and helping others.
You will forever be in my memory.

 We can look around our house and see Mickey everywhere. He did so much beautiful work here. He was amazing.  Bless his heart, he was so talented and particular about his work. He was a great guy.  Deepest sympathy to his family.

Growing up with this band of brothers, Mickey was always full of life. This is a shock as we had lost track of each other over the years. He will always bring a smile to our faces when thinking about the good times. Good guy!

I have so many memories of Mickey and his family. We were neighbors for many years. Mickey helped me with things that would go wrong or break in the house and would never take any money for helping me. He was a good son, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be missed by many. RIP
