Mildred H. Garrett

Mildred was an extraordinary mother and "Memaw." She was the spiritual mentor of the family and loved Jesus with her whole heart. Mildred was also a gifted cook and enjoyed dancing. She was incredibly intelligent and a member of the Euclidean Honor Society. Using her mathematic skills, Mildred worked as an Office Manager for Dixie Distributing for over 40 years and was very accomplished in her position. She thrived throughout her 92 years of living and shared many wonderful memories with her family. Mildred will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ralph Garrett; her daughter Vicki Henderson; and her brother Guy Holmes.

Mildred is survived by her son Glenn Garrett and his wife Kathy; grandchildren Amanda Simmons and her husband Scot and Leah Ouzts and her husband Kyle; great-grandchildren Garrett Kelley and Brantleigh Ouzts and Judah and Liliana Simmons; niece Guylene Jackson and her husband Jim; sister-in-law Faye Shrader; her beloved Westie, Tori; and many other close family and friends.

A graveside service for Mildred will be held Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 431 60th Street N, Birmingham, AL 35212.
