Milton C. Sills Sr., age 94, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Milton, affectionately known as "Nunk", was born December 7, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama to Annie (Faulkner) Sills and Edward James Sills Sr.
Milton is survived by his son Milton C. Sills Jr. (Cathy Oliver Sills); his granddaughter Rachel Sills; 4 nephews; 2 nieces; and numerous cousins and extended relatives and friends.
Nunk was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Sue Hamilton Sills; his brother Edward "E.J." James Jr.; and his sister Beatrice Hamill Warnick.
Nunk was a beloved father, Granddad, and friend. A lifelong resident of Irondale, he was a very loving man who cared about others. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Nunk always stayed busy and active. He worked as an electrical estimator for many years. In his spare time, Nunk enjoyed golfing and watching golf on television. He also had a sweet tooth and loved anything chocolate. Nunk was very involved at The Church at GrantsMill where he was also nicknamed "Precious" for his sweet and peaceful spirit. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at The Church at GrantsMill (formerly First Baptist of Irondale) at 6000 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale, AL 35210. Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale, AL.
