Nancie Ann Browning Sutherland of Birmingham passed away on April 24, 2016 . She grew up ice skating and sledding in Chicago and spent her summers on the shores of Lake Geneva , she was also a cheerleader for Ramsey High School and attended Auburn University. During high school she met the love of her life Richard Wright Sutherland . Their marriage of over 40 years brought three children: Bess, Jeff and Jimmy. That little church became Briarwood Presbyterian . The pastor, Frank Barber was also a Ramsey man and a Auburn graduate. Nancie didn’t preach what she learned , she lived it. 1 Peter includes her life verse : Obey your husband , pray for him , win him over by your life . Forty years of prayer for her husband and her family yielded eternal rewards . She is preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Wright Sutherland . She is survived by her children Bess (Don ) Malin , Jeff (Jan) Sutherland , Jimmy Sutherland . Grandchildren Jake Sutherland , Tara (Andy)Mills and a great grandson Zach . A celebration of life will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Friday April 29 , 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation to begin one hour prior to service .
