Nancy Gilmore Stevenson

Nancy Louise Gilmore Stevenson, 68, born November 4, 1957, passed away at St. Vincent’s in Birmingham on September 9, 2026, after a very brief illness. She was a graduate of Ramey High School.She found joy in tending her flowers, creating something special in the kitchen by trying new recipes, and spending time with her beloved cats. Her love of flowers was honored with an orchid bearing her name, “Nancy Gilmore,” created by Carter and Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olive Laverne Gilmore and Frank Clark Gilmore Jr., and her brother, Frank Clark Gilmore III. Nancy is survived by her sons, John Edgar Stevenson and Daniel Mark Stevenson; her former spouse, Mark Edgar Stevenson; her brother, Mickey Gilmore (Leslie); and her cousin, Carol Sicard Davis. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and their families: Tina Anderson (Mark), Taylor Raley (Matthew), Brooke and Blair Raley; Becky Peterson (Matt), Caroline and Kate Peterson; Cindy Robbins (Benton), Avery and Sam Robbins; Mary Lou Gilmore; Mickey Ray Gilmore; Frankie Gilmore (Emilee); and Welcome Duke-Gilmore and Avian Duke-Gilmore. Nancy will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her. In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, no service will be held. Those wishing to honor her memory are invited to make a donation to Birmingham Botanical Gardens, reflecting her lifelong love of gardening.
