BAIRD, NELL J., age 80, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on May 20, 2015. She was a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church and worked over 35 years for the Robert James Company. She was the long-time guardian for her younger brother, Jerry, and a passionate advocate for the rights of the developmentally disabled. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Nell is survived by her loving husband, Charles D. Baird; sister Billie Joyce Hobson; brother, Jerry Bain; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Manasco, Jr., Linda B. Roberts, Leigh B. Tumlin, Brenda M. VanWallaghen, Michael Manasco, and Stephen Manasco; stepson, Andrew T. Baird, stepdaughter, Lorraine B. Hunt; and several grand-nephews, grand-nieces, and step-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Johns-Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Friday, May 22, 2015 beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a graveside service in Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Larry Michaels, officiating.
