Olivet B. Dial, age 103, of Odenville (and previously of Birmingham), passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019. Mrs. Dial was born on January 23, 1916 to the late Percy and Alma Binford, and was educated in the Birmingham City Schools.
Mrs. Dial was an avid gardener, and was previously the owner of Happy House Oldtiques, an antiques store in Irondale.
Mrs. Dial was a member of Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church for nearly 65 years, and previously taught Sunday School at Acipco United Methodist.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dial was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joseph B. Dial; by her sisters, Marguerite Summers and Wilma Kimbrough; by her brother, Harry Binford; and by her son-in-law, Robert C. Hood. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Dial Hood; her grandchildren, Christopher R. Hood and Katherine L. Hood; her nieces, Olivet Willis, Jerry White (Val), Jennie Sue Sherrer (Larry), Barbara Binford, Marguerite Carper (Chip), and Terry Fibelkorn (Jimmy); her nephews, Tim Summers (Sara), Harry Binford, David Binford, and Phil Kimbrough (Penny); and by numerous great nieces and nephews.
A private burial service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. Following the burial, the family will hold a service celebrating Mrs. Dial’s life at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, Alabama 35235, on Friday, February 15, 2019, at 1 PM, and will receive visitors from 12 PM – 1 PM.
