HELMS, PEGGY, age 85, of Birmingham, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse O. Helms. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Frey (Mike), Barbara Wingard, and Mitzi Council (Tom); grandchildren, Matthew Wingard (Lacy), Jared Wingard (Dawn), Nathan Wingard, Natalie Bohannan (Kyle), Stephen Frey (Heather), Rebekah Baker (Dan), David Frey (Kim), Philip Council (Melissa), Aaron Council (Julia), Jessica Akins (Daniel) and Jacob Council; and 17 great-grandchildren. Peggy was a member of Brewster Road Alliance Church for 65 years and served in the Auxiliary at Medical Center East for 28 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 12-2 at Brewster Road Alliance Church with her service beginning at 2. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
