Mrs. Hildreth was born Peggy Joyce Farris in Jackson Mississippi, December 27, 1928 to Alma and Joseph Farris. She attended Mississippi University for Women. She married Aaron “Moon” Mullins April 3, 1948, who preceded her in death. She was a long time employee of S & H Green Stamps, serving as a store manager and regional public relations representative. Mrs. Hildreth was involved in the Business and Professional Women of Birmingham, worked with at-risk youth at the Girl’s Club of Birmingham, and was a frequent special blood donor for the American Red Cross. After retirement she married Charles Hildreth of Columbus, Georgia who preceded her in death. She was a member of Oakmont Chapel in Hoover, Alabama, where she designed and donated floral arrangements to shut-ins. Peggy will be well remembered for her gift of playing the piano, even up until her death.
She is survived by her four children, Brenda Pritchett (Jim), Julia Mullins Baldwin, Margaret Hemm (Bob) all of Birmingham, Alabama, and Mike Mullins (Gale) of Lubbock, Texas. Additionally, she had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George and James Farris, of Brookhaven, Mississippi and her grandson, Wesley Baldwin.
A celebration of Peggy Hildreth’s life will be hosted at 11:00 am on January 4, 2022 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel at 800 Dennison Ave. SW, Birmingham, Alabama. The family will begin receiving visitors at 10:00 am. Internment will follow at a later date in Columbus, Georgia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Lovelady Center at 7916 2nd Ave. South, Birmingham, Alabama, 35206.
