Providence Ann Pitts

Providence Ann Pitts, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2022. She was born on December 23, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred V. and Sara E. Sciara and brothers, Sam Sciara and Tony Sciara. She is survived by: Husband, Anthony J. Pitts Sr. of Spanish Fort, AL; Son, Anthony J. Pitts Jr. (Katherine) of Biloxi, MS; Daughter, Lisa A. Thomas of Daphne, AL; Grandson, Alex Thomas (Sydney) of Birmingham, AL; Grandson, Michael Pitts (Carol-Lynn Owens) of Atlanta, GA; Grandson, Justin Pitts (Lauren Noel) of Hattiesburg, MS; Grandson, Logan Thomas (Maggie Cowart) of Daphne, AL; Grandson, Bradley Thomas of Daphne, AL; Grandson, Landon Thomas of Daphne, AL; Brother, Fred Sciara (Diane) of Birmingham, AL; Godson, Tony Sciara (Paige) of Birmingham, AL.

Our family would like to thank you for the thoughts, prayers, and memories of Ann. She was always only a phone call or text away from all of us and loved to be involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. Birthdays and family vacations were normal and she loved them. Mom (or Nana as her grandsons called her) was a prayerful, independent, and strong woman and she will be missed greatly by all.

A visitation for Providence will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211. A rosary service will occur Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211.
